Revenue Tracked, Not Guessed

Most HVAC companies do not have a marketing problem in July. They have one in October, when the phone stops and payroll does not. The fix is a system that keeps working when the weather is not doing your selling for you.

Why HVAC Marketing Fails In The Shoulder Season

HVAC revenue is not distributed evenly across the year and no marketing plan should pretend otherwise. Two peaks, two troughs, and most companies spend against the peaks.

The pattern shows up in the data. On one Parker, AZ client's Google Business Profile, interactions ran 65, 66, and 68 in March, April, and May. June hit 94. Then it fell back to 79 in July. That June spike is the first serious stretch of heat, and every HVAC contractor in the market is competing for the same panicked homeowner in the same two weeks.

What most companies do next is the actual problem. Spend gets cut in the trough because the phone is quiet and the budget looks like the easiest thing to trim. Then June arrives and the campaigns restart from a standing stop, with no ranking history, no review velocity, and no warm database. You pay full retail for attention you could have been accumulating since March.

The companies that smooth this out do two things. They keep search visibility running through the slow months, because rankings compound and cannot be bought back in a week. And they build maintenance agreement revenue, which turns spring and fall from dead air into scheduled work. A maintenance plan is not glamorous. It is the difference between a February you survive and a February you plan for.

Where HVAC Leads Actually Come From

Rank your channels by cost per booked job, not cost per lead. The two numbers diverge more in HVAC than almost any other trade, because a repair lead and a replacement lead cost about the same to acquire and are worth very different amounts.

Local Service Ads sit at the top of the results page and charge per lead, with Google handling the screening. Google Ads gives you control over which searches you appear for, which matters when replacement terms and repair terms need different budgets. The map pack drives emergency calls and costs nothing per click. Organic search takes months to move and then keeps working. Referral is the cheapest lead you will ever get and the least predictable.

Organic Search

Months to move, then keeps working.

Most HVAC companies we talk to are running one channel and calling it marketing.

Emergency work is its own category. When a system fails in 112-degree heat, the homeowner is calling down a list, and the job goes to whoever answers. Not whoever ranks first. Response time is the cheapest fix available to most HVAC companies, and it usually costs nothing but a process change.

HVAC SEO That Ranks For Replacement Work, Not Just Repairs

Repair keywords convert quickly and cheaply. Replacement keywords carry the ticket. A site built only around "AC repair near me" will stay busy and stay poor.

The structure that works separates them. Service pages for each job type, city pages for each market you actually serve, and content that answers the questions homeowners ask before a replacement decision rather than during a breakdown. Someone searching "how much does a new AC unit cost in Arizona" is four to six weeks from a purchase. Someone searching "AC not cooling" is four to six hours from one. Both matter. They need different pages.

For one Parker client we built from a standing start, no website and no profile, the search foundation now holds top-three positions for AC installation, emergency AC repair, and heat pump repair in the Parker market. Comparing the first three months to the most recent three, organic clicks are up 71 percent and impressions are up 77 percent.

The honest caveat: Parker is a small market. Top-three rankings there produce steady, modest click volume, not a flood. That is exactly why the profile matters more than the website for a contractor in a town that size.

Google Business Profile Is Your Highest-Value HVAC Asset

For most HVAC contractors the profile outproduces the website, and it is not close.

That same Parker client took 66 phone calls directly from the Google Business Profile in a three-month window, plus 61 clicks through to the website and 12 chat starts. 372 total interactions against 908 profile views. Six months earlier the profile did not exist.

Google Business Profile Performance, March to July 2026

Three things decide map pack placement: relevance, distance, and prominence. Distance you cannot change. Relevance comes from categories, services, and description, and most profiles are half-finished. Prominence is mostly reviews, and that is the lever a new company can actually pull.

For HVAC specifically, HVAC Contractor and HVAC Repair Service are both available categories and they are not the same claim. The narrower one can make you ineligible for the replacement searches that carry the ticket.

Review velocity matters more than raw count. Twenty reviews earned steadily over six months signals an active business. Twenty reviews earned in one week signals something else, and Google treats it accordingly. The same Parker client went from zero to 26 Google reviews by asking every customer after every completed job, which is both the compliant approach and the one that works.

Getting Your HVAC Company Cited By AI Search

Homeowners now ask ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews who to call before they open a search results page. Those answers assemble from a small number of sources, and most HVAC websites give a machine nothing solid to work with.

Being cited is not a trick. It comes down to whether a system can confidently determine what your business is, where it works, and what it does well. That means consistent business information everywhere it appears, structured data a machine can read, content that answers real questions directly instead of burying the answer in three paragraphs of setup, and specific verifiable numbers in place of marketing language.

We build this into every HVAC site rather than selling it as an upgrade. Some of it is proven and some of it is still early, and we tell clients which is which.

Why HVAC Contractors Work With LeadDriverPRO

Both founders came out of construction. One operates a construction company. The other runs marketing, technology, sales support, and customer communication inside a homebuilding business. That is not a positioning statement, it is why the systems get built the way they do.

We know a lead is not a job and a job is not collected revenue. We know your tech is not going to learn new software during peak season. We know what it costs when February is quiet.

The Parker engagement started with nothing. No website, no Google Business Profile, no review system, no CRM. Six months later: 26 Google reviews from zero, top-three rankings for the commercial terms in his market, 66 profile calls in a quarter, and Google Ads and Local Service Ads running on top of a foundation that was earning before we spent a dollar on paid.

Every call and form is now traced to its source, so the next conversation is about which channels produce booked work rather than which ones produce activity.

You work with the owners. There is no account manager between you and the people doing the work.

We know what it costs when February is quiet.

Questions Contractors Ask Before Hiring Us

How much should an HVAC company spend on marketing?

It depends on how competitive your market is and how much demand already exists, so any flat percentage is guesswork. What matters more is sequence. In markets where competitors have weak websites and thin Google Business Profiles, organic and profile work produces returns before you spend anything on ads. In saturated markets you need paid from day one to compete at all. We look at what your competitors have actually built before recommending a number.

How long does HVAC marketing take to work?

Paid search and follow-up automation can produce booked appointments in the first month. Google Business Profile work typically shows movement in 60 to 90 days as reviews accumulate. Organic search takes three to six months to move meaningfully and longer in competitive markets. Anyone promising organic rankings in 30 days is selling something else.

What is the best marketing for HVAC companies?

The one that fixes your specific gap. If your profile is incomplete you are leaving map pack calls on the table for free. If you are not answering the phone within minutes, more leads will not help. If you are ranking for repair terms only, you are working hard for small tickets. The answer depends on which stage is broken.

Should HVAC companies buy leads or invest in SEO?

Bought leads are shared, immediate, and cost the same next year as they do today. SEO is exclusive, slow, and gets cheaper per lead over time. Most HVAC companies should do both, starting with whichever they can afford to be patient about. If cash flow requires work next week, buy leads while the organic foundation is built.

Do you work with HVAC companies outside Arizona?

Yes. We work nationwide with HVAC contractors where the average job value makes marketing investment return. Our first HVAC client is in Parker, Arizona, but nothing about the system is geography specific.

Quick Summary
  • LeadDriverPRO is a contractor marketing agency serving HVAC contractors nationwide, founded in 2025 by two operators from construction backgrounds.
  • HVAC revenue is seasonal. One Parker, AZ client's Google Business Profile interactions ran 65 to 68 monthly in spring and peaked at 94 in June.
  • Google Business Profile typically outproduces the website for HVAC contractors. That same client took 66 calls directly from his profile in a three-month window.
  • Review velocity beats review count. The Parker client reached 26 Google reviews from zero by requesting one after every completed job.
  • Organic search moves in three to six months, not 30 days. Paid search and follow-up automation produce booked appointments faster.
