Google Search Console and Google Business Profile Performance, October 2025 to August 2026
The Starting Position
A custom home builder in Lake Havasu City with three decades of work behind them and almost no digital presence in front of them.
The website existed but was not doing work. Business information did not match across the profile, the site, and the directories where the company appeared, which is the kind of inconsistency that makes a search system uncertain about which listing is authoritative.
No review generation process. No social presence. No tracking connecting any of it to a lead.
For a business selling homes that start near $800,000, the gap between reputation in town and visibility in search was the entire problem. People who knew them knew them. Nobody else could find them.
Disclosure: one of our founders works inside this business. That relationship is how we had access to full sales and contract data rather than lead counts alone. The search and profile figures below come from Google Search Console and Google Business Profile Performance and can be verified independently.
What We Found
The Attract stage was not absent, it was scattered.
Name, address, and phone number varied between the Google Business Profile, the website, and third-party directories. Individually each mismatch was small. Together they gave a search system several versions of the same business and no clear signal which was correct.
The website was indexed at both the www and non-www addresses, splitting ranking signals between two copies of every page. That single issue was sending roughly a third of the site's search performance to a URL nobody intended to build.
The more useful finding was competitive. Custom home building in this market is won on neighborhood-level searches. Homeowners do not search for a builder, they search for a builder in a specific gated community. Almost nobody in the market had pages built for that.
That gap decided the plan. Fix the foundation, then build for the way people actually search in this category.
What We Built
Google Business Profile first. Categories, services, service areas, description, and a review process attached to job completion.
NAP cleanup across every surface where the business appeared. Same name, same address, same phone number, everywhere.
Website refresh with neighborhood-level pages. Individual pages for the communities where this builder actually builds, rather than one page listing every area served.
Social presence on Instagram and Facebook with regular content, which for a visual product like custom homes does work a text page cannot.
CRM and lead tracking so every inquiry connects to its source.
No paid media. Not because paid does not work, but because the organic and profile opportunity in this market was large enough that spending would have been buying something that was available for free.

What It Produced
Google Business Profile, March through August 2026: 370 total interactions across 1,087 profile views. 98 clicks through to the website and 28 phone calls directly from the profile. Monthly interactions moved from 63 in March to a peak of 90 in June.
Google Search Console (GSC), October 2025 through August 2026: 536 unique queries returning the site. 169 of those rank in the top ten and 86 rank in the top three. Clicks are up 58 percent and impressions are up 73 percent period over period. Monthly clicks moved from 21 in October to 61 in July.
Analytics, most recent four weeks: organic search sessions engage at 69.5 percent with an average of 77 seconds on page.
Project value under contract from tracked leads sits between $800,000 and $1,000,000. In this category a single job can account for most of that, which is worth stating plainly rather than implying volume.
All of it with zero paid media spend.

Named In An AI Overview
Why Average Position Got Worse
Average position on this account went from 5.5 in October to 26.9 in July. On a report, that reads as a program going backwards.
It is the opposite. In October the site ranked for a handful of terms, mostly its own name, and ranked well for them. By July it ranked for 536 terms across the market, many of them at lower positions because they are harder and newer. The average is worse because the denominator got much larger.
Clicks nearly tripled over the same period. Impressions went from 521 a month to 3,727.
This is what expansion looks like and it is the single most misread number in search reporting. An agency wanting to look good would report average position while it improved and quietly stop when it did not. An agency wanting you to understand your own business explains why it moved.
The number to watch instead is how many queries rank in the top three. On this account that is 86.
What We Would Do Differently
The www and non-www duplication should have been caught at the start rather than during the audit. It was splitting ranking signals between two copies of every page for months before it was fixed, and it is a twenty minute job once identified.
Neighborhood pages should have come before general service pages. In this category the neighborhood-level search is the one that converts, and we built the broader pages first out of habit.
And the AI Assistant channel now appearing in analytics is something we should have been segmenting for earlier. The volume is small today. It will not stay small, and the accounts with a baseline will be the ones able to prove it moved.
